Samsung is obviously not tired of blazing trails and setting benchmarks in the Mobile Technology industry, their latest effort The Samsung ATIV Q is a dream come true for many people, we at Technerd are absolutely overwhelmed by this device. The ATIV Q Tablet is a dual -booting device that allows users to boot Android OS an
d Windows 8 OS seamlessly on one device. Many Manufactures have been treating dual-booting devices like a Taboo but Samsung has dared to go where others wouldn't with the ATIV Q Tablet.
I'm guessing most visitors of this blog are conversant with dual-booting devices but if you are a newbie I would take a few moments to explain. To geeks, Dual-booting is like having an ice cream cone with two flavours vanilla and chocolate unlike having to chose between vanilla or chocolate. Gone are the days when you have to forego a device because of the platform it operates on. The Samsung ATIV Q allows you to run both Android and Windows 8 without having to reboot the device.
Many people have been able to dual boot their android devices to run different versions of Android when the device is rooted but you will often need to install a custom recovery and wipe the phone memory to do that. Its not like anything we've seen before, even if you run the Bluestacks Android player on your windows 8 PC you are still limited to what apps can be downloaded and i'm sure it might not even respond to gyroscopic motions but this is the first official dual-booting device from a manufacturer, it gives users the best of both worlds, its as if Samsung listened to the consumers and made this awesome device.
The ATIV Q is powered by an Intel Haswell chip and runs Android 4.2 and a full Windows 8 OS instead of Windows RT which Microsoft optimized for tablets. It packs a 13.3" screen on the diagonal it has the best resolution on any tablet. The display which is a 3200 X 1800 "qHD+" display has a pixel density of 275 ppi. The ATIV Q keeps packing surprises, its not just a tablet but can be converted to a full notebook because its has a full physical keyboard beneath the display, this brings the weight to a hefty 1.29kg, heavy in a tablet range but its not as heavy as any notebook laptop out there but Samsung still manages to keep it at 13.9mm in thickness. Although this isn't in the Galaxy Note range of Samsung devices it also comes with a S-Pen and 9 hours of battery life for those Moments when NEPA/PHCN decides to deal you a deadly blow.
Overall the ATIV Q Tablet is another benchmark set by Samsung, their choice of form factor isn't
new as we have seen this form factor with the Asus Transformer Pad but it beats it with the dual-booting option. the only catch is whether this Tablet would be affordable for most people that would appreciate it. we don't know when this device would be available in Nigeria or how much it would cost but its definitely worth breaking the piggy bank for.
